The coal-to-gas conversion at KH3 required a C$29-million funding, plus one other C$38 million for gasoline infrastructure and upkeep initiatives. At its peak, the mission supplied almost 600 building jobs.
TransAlta spent a complete of C$295 million on its coal-to-gas program that included conversion of Sundance Unit 6 within the first quarter of 2021, conversion of Keephills Unit 2 within the third quarter of 2021, conversion of Sheerness Items 1 and a couple of, plus building of recent excessive quantity gasoline supply infrastructure.
With the profitable completion of the KH3 conversion and the deliberate closure of the Highvale coal mine on Dec. 31, 2021, TransAlta’s thermal services in Alberta at the moment are a 100% pure gasoline operation. In mixture, TransAlta has retired 3,794 MW of coal-fired era capability since 2018 whereas changing 1,659 MW to cleaner burning pure gasoline.
TransAlta is a rising clear power supplier whose portfolio contains hydro, wind, photo voltaic and battery property.
